Security

I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling self concious about myself.

I’m not a skinny girl, nor am I a big girl, well maybe I am compared to many others and I don’t think I’m pretty in the slightest (my husband would disagree). I’m not hugely confident, but I am human and I have feelings and I try to be true to myself everyday, but it can be hard.

I lived with a mental illness for many years and although I have it under control now, I still have moments of self loathing. I find it difficult to look in a mirror sometimes as I think the thing staring back is hideous.

I hate how forms of media make me feel. I hate feeling that I have to be a size 8 and blonde to be liked and successful. I’m the complete opposite. I’m a size 18 with dyed black hair!!

I’m not quite sure where I’m going with this exactly, but I guess I just want to get my feeling out there.

We’re all beautiful regardless of size, sex and race etc. We’re all stars that shine brightly in someone’s world and we need to learn to allow that light to shine.

Love to you all xx

naturally :) However, Season 4 has just started over here. Episode 3 tonight.

I’m really looking forward to seeing Chris Meloni in Season 5. Not sure how I’ll cope with Meloni and Skarsgård both on screen as vampires!!

Organisation

There are so many things that I want to say and ‘put out there’ right now. I need to organise the thoughts in my head first before I start typing out a load of mumbo jumbo.

I think I now know what I will be doing in my lunch hour at work! Putting all my thoughts out there for all to see

(well the couple of followers I have. Love you all :) xx)

Shame

I went to see ‘Shame’ last night with my hubby. Wonderful film. Strong performances from both actors.

One reason I loved this film was that it wasn’t dialogue heavy. I found myself taking in much more, with regards to the surroundings (visuals and sounds) and this added more depth for me. When dialogue was used, it was meaningful and added to the scenes, rather then just in there for the sake of it.

I thought that Fassbender brought depth to the character and in a way I liked him, felt sorry for him and disliked him. His facial expressions conveyed much more in scenes than any dialogue could have.

I personally didn’t find any of the sex scenes gratuitous. I thought it was realistic film, it portayed a realistic struggle.

I would love to say more about this film, but find it easier to talk about it rather than type! I feel like I can’t get my point across.

The Q&A session at the end was a little disappointing. I didn’t feel that I gained anything from it and it was almost of if the director didn’t particularly want to be there. And the interviewer was useless (in my opinion).

It’s a heavy film and not for everyone, but all in all in a wonderfully made British film that deserves some recognition

‘Shame’

Tonight I am off to a preview screening with a Q&A sesion with the Director & Writer of ‘Shame’.

I’m going with the hubby and I have to say I’m a little concerned as to how he’s going to find this film. All he knows is it’s about sex addiction, stars Michael Fassbender and is directed by Steve McQueen. (Maybe this is a good thing)

We both watched ‘Hunger’ and thought it was a beautifully filmed, tragic, compelling, harrowing film. One of the best films we’ve seen.

I hope to give my honest opinion about it tomorrow.
